coat in pride patchwork

$695.00

community

When I asked the elders about their all-time favorite outfit, most had an immediate answer. A black leather jacket from a show one worked at & Japanese silk shirts with monochrome floral patterns. Confidence was recalled in connection to plaid fleece & to a burgundy leather skirt. Freedom was found running topless through the woods with only a flowy skirt on. This coat smashes all those memories together is a mix of color, pattern & texture. It’s not pretty or perfect, but community is always more about being connected than manicured.

this piece is a part of a mini collection for pride

designed during a week long art residency at cedar north in collaboration with crosshatch for the long memory project then sewn at the shop in suttons bay

the collection released at a group show in commongrounds on june 15 to celebrate queer artists & the stories of queer elders in michigan – the residency held space for elders & artists to share stories & create art based on those memories / experiences
